If you’re active, love the outdoors and have a head for heights, then a Lineworker apprenticeship could be for you.
Lineworkers build, improve and maintain the poles and wires that deliver electricity to our customers. As an apprentice you’ll become an expert in constructing and maintaining the overhead electrical distribution lines and will learn how to work on street lighting and communication systems.

Your work experience will involve:
- Maintaining poles and associated hardware at tree top level
- Inspecting overhead structures and electrical apparatus
- Installing and maintaining public lighting systems
- Installing and maintaining overhead conductors and cables
- Maintaining overhead energised low voltage conductors
- Installing and maintaining electrical equipment
Your apprenticeship will also include time at TAFE, where you’ll complete a Certificate III to become a qualified Lineworker. You’ll also gain a truck licence and become skilled in the operation of plant and equipment associated with your role.
Ausgrid is a Registered Training Organisation and Certificate III in ESI-Distribution (UET30209) is a nationally recognised qualification, accredited by the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB).
