"I chose the Ausgrid Commercial Graduate Program because it offers many opportunities. The rotations allow me to experience and learn about different areas of the company; while the various workshops and option of study assistance allows me to further develop my skills and knowledge. Ausgrid is a great place to work and everyone has been really supportive during my transition from university to full time work."

“You’ll gain invaluable exposure to different business areas”
I’ve just started my first rotation on the Energy Australia Commercial Graduate Program and I’m enjoying it already! Coming from mixed business disciplines, the tailored rotations made Energy Australia the right choice for me. The rotations give us the opportunity to gain exposure to different business functions as well as the opportunity to build new working relationships along the way. Already I’ve met so many great people, and the culture here at Energy Australia has certainly made that very easy. I would definitely recommend the Commercial Graduate Program to graduates out there. It’s great to be part of the ‘we’ in “We’re on it!”

“Commercial graduate program of the year”
Coming straight out of University and working a nine-to-five business job was quite daunting to me at first, but I've had a great time so far on the graduate program here at Ausgrid. My first 2 months have flown by and I'm constantly learning new things everyday. The flexibility of the program enables me to move around and understand all the different aspects of the business and its operations. The people are friendly and more than happy to help while encouraging personal development.

"Get more than you bargained for!"
Since working for Ausgrid, my life has changed dramatically. When I first came here, my expectation was that I would be getting a career filled with opportunities for learning and development. But the truth is, as well as this, I have gained so much more: an understanding manager, a supportive team and a close-knit graduate network. In a short time working at Ausgrid I can see an enjoyable and challenging career ahead of me.

Past Graduates
I completed the full five rotations on the graduate program before moving into a permanent role in Ausgrid’s Retail Division. My rotations were quite diverse, giving me experience working in very different parts of the company. For example, I worked on energy efficiency initiatives in the Network Division, was involved in Ausgrid’s entry into the ACT market in the Retail Division and helped host the 2003 ESI Field Days industry event with Ausgrid’s engineering & contracting business.

As a graduate at Ausgrid, you are given so many opportunities to get involved, make contacts across the organisation and participate in development activities such as the Grad Project and Development Camp at Kangaroo Valley. It’s a really good way to experience different kinds of roles before you decide where you want to specialise.
Kate Bashford
University of Sydney – Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), majors in Economics and Finance.

"During my time as a Graduate with Ausgrid, I had the opportunity to work in a number of very different areas of the company. My first rotation was in the Compliance & Management Systems Branch, where I was part of a team that managed the roll-out of Business Continuity Plans across all branches and divisions of Ausgrid. During this rotation, I was also involved in a number of projects that provided me with a great overview of Ausgrid's Operation. My second rotation was in the Energy Pricing Branch of Ausgrid's Retail Division. This rotation has given me an insight into the structure of the energy market in Australia as well as the competitive nature of retail electricity and gas market in Australia. I was also fortunate to attend the Graduate Camp with the engineering graduates. It was an action packed week that I enjoyed immensely. The Commercial Graduate Program provides graduates with a wide range of experience and skills and I recommend it to all prospective graduates."

“I chose the Ausgrid Commercial Graduate Program because of the flexibility it offers and the valuable insight to different areas of the company that graduates gain through rotations.
Since joining the Program, I’ve completed rotations in Network Regulation and Pricing and Corporate Communications. I have undertaken interesting projects with real responsibilities and worked in fantastic teams that have given me tremendous support and opportunities to learn and develop.
The many development courses and the added guidance of a mentor have further aided my development. Being surrounded by a supportive community of current and past graduates has also made the program even more enjoyable.”

“I chose the Ausgrid Commercial Graduate Program because it provided me with endless opportunities to experience different business roles through its rotational program. This has enabled me to gain a greater scope of how the business operates as well as develop several skill sets. From day one you are delegated with significant responsibility and are set goals to achieve by the end of each rotation.
The program also enables you to plan your career path and the company provides additional support to assist you in making this choice such as providing you with a mentor and further study options. Ausgrid has a dedicated and committed workforce that provides a great environment to work in.”
