How does the Traineeship work?

Work experience for trainees consists of six-monthly rotational placements across the Ausgrid network.  This enables you to explore the many different and diverse areas of our business.

A typical fortnight at Ausgrid for a trainee would be:

While TAFE is in session:

  • Week 1 – Work 4 days / Attend TAFE classes 1 day
  • Week 2 – Work 3 days / Attend TAFE classes 1 day / Rostered Day Off 1 day

When TAFE is on holidays:

  • Week 1 – Work 5 days
  • Week 2 – Work 4 days / Rostered Day Off 1 day

Who are we looking for?

You should be completing your HSC this year (or have already finished) with sound results in maths and science and an (anticipated) ATAR of 70 or above. Alternatively, you have a trade certificate and are looking for a rewarding new career.

In addition to your academic record we also look for evidence of:

  • Leadership and team work
  • Communication skills

  • Innovation

The Traineeship is open to all Australian citizens or permanent residents who qualify to enter TAFE to study an Advanced Diploma in Electricity Supply Industry (Power Systems).
