Electrical engineering students

Our Undergraduate Work Experience Program in electrical engineering offers students a wide choice of positions providing a broad exposure to the many different areas available in electrical engineering at Ausgrid.

Armed with this knowledge and experience you will be better able to determine a career path best suited to you.

Typical work areas available on the Program include:

  • asset management
  • contract management
  • construction (substations, overhead and underground mains)
  • design (e.g. transmission line design)
  • high voltage testing
  • maintenance (substations, overhead and underground mains)
  • metering development (two way communications)
  • network pricing
  • network planning
  • protection
  • project management
  • risk management
  • sustainable energy (solar, wind, hydro and bio mass)
  • technical services

You should be undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), preferably with ‘Power engineering’ electives and you’ll need to have completed the third year of a standard four year course by December 2010 to apply.

You’ll be asked to demonstrate your capabilities in the areas of leadership and being a team player, communication, creativity, innovation, self-motivation, delivering commercial results and being customer focused. You’ll also need a current driver's licence.
