Subdivisions, multi, large and high voltage connections

‚ÄčThis category is for new or altered connections for the following:

  • Subdivisions of land for residential, commercial or industrial development
  • New or altered connections for residential, commercial or industrial developments at more than 200 Amps
  • New or altered connections for residential, commercial or industrial developments where you may be using machinery rated at 30 Amps.
  • Multi-unit developments with service connections greater than 100 Amps.
  • High voltage connections with new or altered connections 11,000 volts and above involving commercial or industrial developments 


Application Process and Requirements

Submit the form

Need help? Your ASP2 or electrical contractor can help you fill out and submit the application form. Your ASP is also able to complete and submit the form on your behalf, and you can choose to authorise them to accept a connection offer on your behalf.

To successfully complete your application form please read the following steps:

  • 1    You must complete all fields marked with an “*”. Any mandatory field not completed, or fields incorrectly filled in will show highlighted in red. You will need to correct these before you can preview and submit the form.
  • 2    When you have completed the form, select ‘Preview’ to review your form before submission. If you need to make changes, select ‘Edit’ to return to the form.
  • 3    If you do not have all the required information, you can save the form by selecting 'Save'. You will be emailed a link and your unique reference number allowing you to return to the form to complete it.
  • 4    Once you have completed all the required information, click ‘Submit’ from the Preview page.
  • 5    You will then receive a pop up box confirming your email address, you can type in any email address for which you wish correspondence relating to this submission to be sent to.
  • 6    A pop up box will appear advising submission to Ausgrid and your unique submission number.
  • 7    A copy of the completed form and your submission number will be emailed to you.

Applications that need a certified design

If the network needs to be augmented to meet the electricity needs of your property, there are a few extra steps before you can complete a connection application and commence work on constructing the necessary connection assets.

1. We will offer you a Design Contract . The offer includes a statement of fees as well as terms and conditions of contract.

2. You accept the Design Contract and pay the fees to Ausgrid.

3. We will send you Design Information so you can arrange an ASP3 to design the augmentation works and submit the design to us for certification.

4. We will do a desktop audit of the design to check whether it meets our standards.

5. Once we certify the design, your connection application can be completed. We will send you a connection offer, but there is an option to expedite a connection on the application form and if you have asked for expedition and indicated that the model standing offer of connection services for ASP1 connections is appropriate, the contract will commence on the date we certify the design.

6. If you choose not to expedite the connection, you have 45 business days to accept the connection offer.

7. Once the connection contract is in place, you arrange an ASP1 of your choice to build the network assets, and an ASP2 to provide metering services.

Ausgrid will inspect the work throughout the construction period to make sure it meets our standards before the power is turned on. Once successfully electrified, the connection assets constructed by the ASP1 will be owned and maintained by Ausgrid as part of our network.

Please note, when the connection contract commences, another contract called Ausgrid’s Deemed Standard Connection Contract is formed between Ausgrid and the retail customer who will use the electricity at the premises. This contract takes effect as soon as the property is connected and electricity is being used.
