Ausgrid is laying new 66,000 Volt underground electricity cables between Woy Woy and Empire Bay to supply power to the new Empire Bay zone substation.
This is part of Ausgrid’s plans to increase the reliability of its network on the lower Central Coast and meet the community’s growing power needs.
The new cables have mainly been installed under local and main roads along the route. The remaining work will see cables installed within existing ducts over the Rip Bridge, as well as connection works at Woy Woy zone substation.
More information, including a route map, can be viewed below.
The cable project is due to be finished in time for the new Empire Bay substation to enter service in mid 2013.
