Ausgrid has laid new 132,000 volt underground cables from Ausgrid’s substation in Mason Park (Homebush) to the edge of Bicentennial Park where Ausgrid is constructing a new electricity substation.
The new 132,000 volt cables are required to power Ausgrid's new Sydney Olympic Park substation that is now under construction. The substation will allow Ausgrid to meet the increasing electricity demand from the area’s growing business and residential community and is line with Sydney Olympic Park’s Master Plan 2030.
The cables have been installed and connected to the new substation in Bicentennial Park.
Community consultation for the substation project and the associated cables started in May 2011 and involved seeking feedback through community information displays and newsletters.
