Electricity safety week

Electricity Safety Week is held in primary schools across New South Wales in September each year.

In 2011 Electricity Safety Week will be held from the 5th to the 9th of September.

The aim of Electricity Safety Week is to teach children to stay safe around electricity both at home and outdoors. It is a hands-on program that shows young people how electricity works, how to use it and how to stay safe around it.

Through the Electricity Safety Week curriculum, developed by the NSW Department of Education as part of the NSW Science and Technology K-6 syllabus, students learn about a wide range of electrical equipment, from substations that power whole suburbs to everyday household appliances.

Primary schools located in Ausgrid’s network distribution area (Sydney, the Central Coast and Hunter Regions) can register for their Electricity Safety Week Pack containing an activity booklet, merit certificate, posters, stickers and student prizes by emailing esw@primary-pr.com

The Electricity Safety Week program is part of Ausgrid’s $2 million Public Electrical Safety Awareness Program.
