In 2014 TransGrid and Ausgrid initiated an extensive stakeholder consultation project to investigate options for meeting the Inner Sydney area’s power demands.
As part of the early phase of the project known as 'Powering Sydney's Future', more than 350 stakeholders participated in a range of activities including workshops, information sessions, surveys and briefings between January and October 2014. These events enabled us to open the conversation and hear a diverse range of opinions from a variety of stakeholders including businesses, communities, research institutions, industry and consumer representatives, large energy users, and providers/aggregates of non-network solutions.
Current forecasts indicate that planning needs to start now so that a solution is in place to address the constraint on this part of the network by 2021-22. We are therefore progressing with the project and investigating a range of network and non-network solutions to address this constraint.
If you are a non-network provider with a minimum aggregated capacity of one megawatt (1 MW) we want to hear from you. We are seeking expressions of interest for services in the relevant area available from 8am-8pm on working weekdays.
