Sydney North

Ausgrid will invest more than $1.2 billion in the five years to 2014 to maintain and improve our electricity network in Sydney’s north.

Our record investment program is designed to improve reliability for customers and cater for continued growth in demand and includes a major focus on asset replacement.

Some of the key factors driving demand growth in this region of Sydney are commercial expansion around Macquarie Park and Terrey Hills, major infrastructure projects such as the Chatswood-Parramatta Rail Link, high density residential developments in Hornsby-Berowra, together with the increasing use of air conditioning generally in the community.

Key investment in this part of the network is outlined below.

Sydney’s North Shore – around $617 million on projects including:

Northern Beaches region – around $301 million on projects including:

North West region – around $100 million on projects including:

Northern Districts region - around $207 million on projects including:

These initiatives, which are outlined in Our Five Year Plan, are based on current forecasts for the network. This plan will be reviewed annually to ensure money is invested where it is needed.
