This information is provided for electrical contractors who are, or who want to be, accredited and authorised to carry out contestable customer connections services in our network distribution area.
Customers may be required to fund some or all of the cost of connecting their electrical installation to our electricity distribution network. Any work to design or construct assets for a customer-funded connection is known as ‘contestable work’, which gives the customer the right to choose any appropriately qualified service provider accredited with Department of Trade and Investment.
ASP accreditation
There are three levels of service provider accreditation for contestable work. Details of how to qualify as an accredited service provider (ASP) to bid for contestable work can be obtained from the Department of Trade and Investment website.
ASP authorisation
Accredited service providers must obtain authorisation in writing to work on or near Ausgrid's network distribution assets. Find out more about being authorised.
On the job safety
All electrical contractors and accredited service providers must identify any potential electrical hazards that may impact on the work on our network before commencement. Find out more about on the job safety.
