ASP accreditation

Accreditation to undertake contestable work in NSW is administered by Department of Trade and Investment.

Accreditation levels

Individual electrical contractors or electrical contracting/consulting companies can become accredited service providers and perform contestable work. Individuals must also obtain authorisation from us for work on or near our existing distribution network assets.

There are 3 levels of accreditation which can be gained from Department of Trade and Investment.

Level 1: Contestable distribution work
Installing high voltage and low voltage distribution overhead mains, underground cables and substations.

Level 2: Contestable service work
Installing overhead and underground service lines and metering equipment, the disconnection and reconnection of service connections to carry out work on an installation, and energising installations with a total electricity load not greater than 100 Amps.

Level 3: Contestable design
Designing electrical reticulation systems which usually does not require our authorisation to work on or near network assets.
