The Demand Management and Planning Project (DMPP) was commissioned by the former Minister for Planning to investigate the potential to moderate peak electricity demand in the electricity transmission and distribution networks in and around the Sydney Inner Metropolitan Area.
Over its five years of operation from 2003 to 2008, the DMPP funded a wide variety of studies and demonstration projects. Links to summary reports on key works are provided below. Broadly, they can be categorised as:
- Combined results of demand management assessments of hundreds of individual medium to large electricity consumers;
- Assessments of technologies that can be used for DM, including:
- Standby generators;
- Cogeneration;
- Load shifting;
- Power Factor Correction (PFC);
- Energy efficiency, including innovative lighting and air conditioning; and
- Embedded photovoltaic (PV) generation; and
- Energy use in medium-density housing.
