To help prevent electrical accidents around your home and in your community, Ausgrid has developed a program to teach primary school students about electricity and how to be safe around it.
The free Electricity & Safety Unit for years 5 & 6 contains a downloadable lesson book and four complementary interactive whiteboard lessons that will engage your students in learning about electricity.
The resources have been developed in collaboration with the Department of Education and Communities and are aligned to meet the NSW Board of Studies Science & Technology syllabus for the Australian Curriculum.
They provide opportunities for students to learn about electrical energy through a series of lessons, working with a range of materials and transferring the knowledge gained into the design and development of a working model that uses transformed electrical energy.
To complement the lesson book, we have developed four SMART Notebook lessons featuring embedded interactive class activities, videos and teacher’s notes. If you are using a different interactive whiteboard, you can download interactive PDF versions.
