Electricity Safety Week, a state-wide program is held in primary schools across New South Wales in September each year.
Primary schools located in Ausgrid’s network distribution area (Sydney, the Central Coast and Hunter Regions) can now register for a Free Electricity Safety Week Resource Pack containing an activity booklet, merit certificate, posters, stickers and student prizes by emailing email@example.com or by calling 02 9212 3888. The free resource packs will be delivered to registered schools in August 2017.
Electricity Safety Week 2017 will be held 4-8 September.
The aim of Electricity Safety Week is to teach children to stay safe around electricity both at home and outdoors. It is a hands-on program that shows young people how electricity works, how to use it and how to stay safe around it.
Through the Electricity Safety Week curriculum, developed by the NSW Department of Education as part of the NSW Science, Technology and PDHPE syllabuses students learn about a wide range of electrical equipment, from substations that power whole suburbs to everyday household appliances.
The Electricity Safety Week program is part of Ausgrid’s Public Electrical Safety Awareness Program.
