Ausgrid is the largest distributor of electricity on Australia’s east coast, providing power to 1.8 million customers - that’s over four million Australians relying on us every day. Our network is made up of substations, powerlines, underground cables and power poles, spanning 22,275 square kilometres throughout Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley.

We are recruiting Protection, Voltage Regulation and Telecontrol Technicians to join our Field Operations Transmission Substations team in Artarmon and Oatley.


About Field Operations

The Field Operations Group are focussed on delivering a safe, efficient and reliable electricity network 24/7 and play a major role in building, repairing and maintaining Ausgrid’s network.

Who we are looking for

Successful candidates will have a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Systems Electrician (or equivalent) coupled with experience in an electrical trade role, preferably within electricity distribution or relevant industry.

It is important to be flexible and be available for planned and unplanned overtime and available for emergency response work as required.

To be considered for these roles, you will have:

  • Experience in the operation, maintenance, and development of electrical supply systems in distribution, zone and sub-transmission substations and networks
  • Ability to investigate, solve technical problems, and use advanced testing equipment and software systems for data capture and testing of systems
  • Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, and procedures such as safe working practices and manual handling, network standards and codes of practice
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Asbestos awareness and experience working safely with asbestos materials
  • Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew and communicate with others, including customers
