Ausgrid has released its annual Electricity Network Safety Management System (ENSMS) Performance Report for 2025, confirming its commitment to network security, bushfire preparedness, and community safety.
The report highlights record achievements in inspection completion and the successful deployment of innovative technologies, resulting in significant safety improvements across the network.
It also summarises key incidents, including major incidents, asset failures, and vegetation contacts, with associated data, as well as reliability, inspections, risk treatments, and audits, as well as detail bushfire risk management and pre-summer preparedness, including inspections and actions in bushfire-prone areas.
Safety performance continues to be the priority, with advancements recorded over the last year including:
- All pre-summer bushfire inspections were completed for the fifth consecutive year, covering over 137,000 poles in bushfire-prone areas and supporting community safety.
- Severe storms in January 2025 tested network resilience, with rapid restoration efforts reconnecting 99% of affected customers within five days.
- Copper theft remains a challenge, but enhanced surveillance and public awareness campaigns have helped reduce risks to network reliability and safety.
- The lowest rate of electric shock incidents from network assets in four years was recorded as Ausgrid continued to invest in advanced technologies and improvement programs.
We continue to remind the community they need to always stay at least 8 metres away from any fallen powerlines, always assume they are live and report any potential hazards to Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
