Generators available for residents facing extended power outage

04 March 2022

A notice from Ausgrid

For customers currently experiencing an outage in the local area north of the Wiseman’s Ferry launch - in the area around the Mill Creek campground, and in remote areas in Mangrove Creek.

The majority of customers are being affected by a tree that has fallen on high voltage powerlines. Repairs are being planned and Ausgrid estimates that power should be restored within 48 hours, depending on weather conditions.

There are further network faults impacting customers north of the Wiseman’s Ferry launch - in the area around the Mill Creek campground, and in remote areas in Mangrove Creek. Power may not be restored in these areas until next Friday (11th March) due to unstable ground conditions and access issues for heavy equipment. For these customers Ausgrid is offering to supply a small (2.2kW) generator.

Ausgrid has sent a text to these customers, however, if you are a customer in these areas and you have not received any communications, please call 131 388 to register your interest in requesting a generator.

Ausgrid is preparing to deliver these to customers at the Spencer General Store between 4-6pm today (4th March). The generators will come with a full tank and a 10 litre jerry can of petrol.

Supply is limited and Ausgrid cannot guarantee that all customers who want a generator will receive one, so please ensure that you contact 131 388 to register. Customers will need to complete a checklist when receiving the generator and commit to returning the generator once power is restored.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to reconnect power to your area.
