NSW Networks Customer Relief Package

Cafe owner during COVID-19 looking concerned

Energy Networks Australia (ENA) announced a new initiative on 2 April 2020 to help deliver financial relief for our customers. Energy networks across New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia are implementing a suite of measures to provide support to all customers enduring hardship as a result of COVID-19.

In NSW, Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy have been working together with our electricity retailers to introduce arrangements that will support both our customers and retailers with energy relief throughout the pandemic.

We’re helping provide relief for customers that are unable to pay their bills due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19. This includes:

  • residential customers that meet their retailer’s hardship requirements; and
  • small businesses that consume less than 40MWh per annum based on 2019 consumption and that meet their retailer’s financial support assessment requirements.

The NSW package also assists some retailers by deferring network charges for certain customers until 30 September 2020. Full details on this can be found here for small retailers and large retailers.

If you are experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please contact your electricity retailer to discuss what support options are available to you.
