Ausgrid’s environmental management system (EMS) is certified to international standards ISO 14001 and is used to identify environmental risks and puts measures in place to effectively manage those risks. The EMS includes policies, procedures and training to provide a basis for continuous environmental improvement.

The scope of our EMS includes the provision of project management, design, estimating, construction, installation, commissioning, maintenance, operating, administration and other related activities for electricity transmission and distribution networks. It also includes the calibration and testing of measuring instruments and electrical equipment associated with electrical energy supply, transmission and distribution.

We develop an annual Environmental Sustainability Improvement Plan, which sets objectives and targets to improve our environmental performance and outlines practical actions to improve our performance in areas such as pollution control and reducing our energy and water use, waste and carbon emissions.

Our Environment Policy and Environmental Code of Conduct outline our commitment to the environment and the expectations of our workforce.

Our Annual Report captures some of our key environmental performance indicators and initiatives each financial year.
