For a new or modified connection to our network, you must have a contract with us that covers the connection. For most customers, the terms and conditions of this contract will be one of our ‘model standing offers’. A model standing offer includes Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved terms and conditions.
If one of our model standing offers does not suit your connection needs, you will need to negotiate a contract with us. For example, no model standing offer covers a large embedded generator, you must negotiate a contract. However, anyone is entitled to negotiate a contract with us.
To negotiate a contract with us, you must follow our connection negotiation process.
Our model standing offers for a basic connection service cover any connection that involves no or minimal changes our network, before the connection can be made and electrified, because our network is sufficient to meet the connection’s requirements safely.
Download this model standing offer when you apply for a new or modified connection with a maximum capacity of 100 Amps.
Download this model standing offer we use when the connection applied for exceeds 100 Amps and it is not necessary to make any change to Ausgrid’s distribution network before the connection can be made and electrified.
Download this model standing offer when you apply to connect a micro embedded generator with a capacity of up to 10 kW per phase (30 kW three phase), such as roof-mounted solar panels, and the generator complies with AS/NZ 4777 – Grid Connection of Energy Systems via Inverters.
Our model standing offers for a standard connection service cover any connection that involves changes to our network before the connection can be made and electrified. Which one we use depends on whether the law requires you or Ausgrid to fund the changes and to design and construct the physical augmentation work. ‘Augmentation work’ means to add or modify infrastructure to the network to increase the capacity of the network to distribute electricity. For more information, see our connection policy.
When you apply for a standard connection service, we don’t expect you to know which offer suits your application. Usually, we determine which offers suit when assessing your application. However, if you choose to expedite your application, please select the one or more standard connection offers you think suit and also include a certified design for the changes to our network (see Getting the work done).
If your connection involves a large embedded generator you will need to negotiate a contract with us, as we haven’t a model standing offer to cover this yet.
Download this model standing offer when shared parts of Ausgrid’s network have to be augmented and you are responsible for organising the design and construction of the changes.
You must hire an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) Level 3 to design the changes, and then they must get Ausgrid to certify the design. You must then hire an ASP1 to construct or install the augmentation works. Once the new network infrastructure has been electrified, Ausgrid becomes the owner of the infrastructure and is responsible for operating and maintaining it.
Download this model standing offer when you apply to modify a connection and we must design and construct all augmentation work off-site at our cost.
