Call for new customer voices to help shape the future of energy

Listening to customers and shaping services to reflect their needs is critical as the energy market transforms and we move to a low carbon future.  To strengthen our customer engagement and ensure we have a diverse customer representation, Ausgrid is refreshing our customer committee structure.   

Customer Consultative Committee (CCC) 

We are calling for expressions of interest for new members to join our CCC.  The CCC is the key forum to provide advice and customer views, which help shape Ausgrid's customer services. 

Reset Customer Panel (RCP)

This is a new panel we are establishing with an independent Chair to provide in-depth challenge to Ausgrid throughout the 2024-29 Regulatory Reset.  Members and Chair will be expected to provide independent and constructive feedback based on their expertise and insight. 

The Chair will lead discussions with CCC to achieve alignment on key Reset issues and outcomes.  The Chair will also produce reports to Ausgrid and AER providing an assessment of how long term customer perspectives have been reflected in the Ausgrid 2024-29 Regulatory proposals.  

We are calling for applicants for the role of Independent Chair. Members of this new panel will be drawn from current and any new CCC members.   

We are looking for people with a broad range of skills and experience.  This includes people with senior experience in the public sector, transport, technology and renewable generation.  Experience in consumer advocacy, youth advocacy, market research and engagement, social inclusion, sustainability and climate science is highly valued.  It is an exciting time to work with Ausgrid help to lead the emergence of new energy solutions.

How will my nomination be assessed?

Nominations for all positions will be assessed on merit according to the assessment criteria.  The appointment of the independent Chair will be made following consultation with the Australian Energy Regulator. Unfortunately, nominations from private sector firms cannot be accepted.  

What will the commitment be?

At this stage, we expect that the CCC will meet quarterly for the majority of a day and the RCP will meet every 6-8 weeks for up to half a day. Papers or pre-reading will be circulated prior to each meeting.   

New members will be invited to participate in meetings for a two year period, from July 2021 to July 2023, with the potential to extend for another year to July 2024. 


Committee members will be reimbursed for participation in meetings, this includes pre-reading. Details on reimbursement can be provided on request.

Terms of Reference

The Terms of Reference (TOR) for Ausgrid committees and panels will be updated and endorsed by the CCC and the RCP when it is established.  The TOR will outline the interrelationships between Ausgrid’s committees and the AER and the Consumer Challenge Panel.  It will also cover measures to support the independence of the RCP. 

It is expected that the first meeting of the RCP will be in early July 2021. 

What do I need to do?

Please send an email with your nomination for our Customer Consultative Committee, Reset Customer Panel member and for the Chair of the Reset Customer Panel to Clare Buckingham, Stakeholder Relations Officer ( ) by COB Friday 11 June 2021. Your nomination should address the assessment criteria and outline your reasons for nominating.
