How to apply for the Bright Spark Apprentice Program

Application steps

There are six steps to our application and assessment process.

  1. Apply

    Register your application via Ausgrid Careers and upload your resume.

  2. Assessments

    Complete online aptitude assessments facilitated by our partner Testgrid. Topics include numeracy, abstract reasoning and safety awareness (~2hrs).

  3. Video interview

    Submit your video responses showcasing who you are and why you are passionate about an Ausgrid Apprenticeship.

  4. Face to face interview

    Shortlisted candidates attend face-to-face interview. Topics include teamwork, development, personal work standards and problem solving.

  5. Pre-employment

    Complete police and reference checks and attend a medical functional to assess fitness for work.

  6. Offer

    Accept your offer to commence January 2026 and attend onboarding events in the lead up to meet the team and your future peers.

Applicant requirements

  • You must be an Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.
  • You hold or are working towards a driver’s licence.
  • You must have completed Year 10 and/or be over 17 years old to apply for a full-time apprenticeship.

Application Tips

  • Show your motivation: Highlight your passion for an Ausgrid apprenticeship e.g. researching all trades
  • Stand out: Tell us what makes you unique and how you can contribute to our success
  • Practice numeracy: Sharpen your skills with practice numeracy assessments available online via a Google search, such as apprenticeships.gov.au - Practice Tests and Math Practice Quiz
  • Maintain professionalism: Show your commitment through professional attitude e.g. attention to detail and holding to timelines with applicant submissions
  • Be punctual: Impress us by being on time for all scheduled interviews, appointments, and events
  • Prepare physically: Strengthen yourself for medical functional assessments and the physical demands of the apprenticeship
  • Communicate openly: Foster open communication by sharing your thoughts and asking questions throughout the process
  • Be autonomous: Take initiative by directly asking questions or seeking feedback.
