About us

Inclusion and Diversity

Three Ausgrid employees representing inclusion and diversity at Ausgrid

We continue to strive for an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities that we serve

Embracing a diversity of thought, experiences and backgrounds is key to ensuring the engagement and well-being of our people. By creating an environment where differences are embraced and people feel comfortable to bring their whole self to work, innovation flourishes. This means creating a work environment that is inclusive, where employee differences are valued. We also acknowledge that people perform the best when they feel comfortable in bringing their whole self to work.

  • We accept that Inclusion and Diversity produce better business outcomes
  • We will ensure that a variety of voices are heard and included
  • We aim to build an inclusive culture that embraces diversity
  • We understand that diversity can mean different things to different people

Our five diversity pillars

To enable us to make some real, sustainable and accelerated change, our Inclusion and Diversity goals are focused on five key diversity pillars: Gender, Culture, LGBTQI+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Disability.

Ausgrid Inclusion and Diversity Council

Ausgrid’s Inclusion and Diversity Council, chaired by our CEO, is action-oriented to bring about sustainable change. The Council members sponsor several Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that enable employee member input on a range of issues to make Ausgrid a more inclusive and diverse organisation.

The Employee Resource Groups are:

  • GRID25 (Gender diversity)
  • MOSAIC (Cultural diversity)
  • Pride (LGBTQI+)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander network
  • disAbility (Disability)

Our Employee Resource Groups continue to thrive, with growing membership from across the business. Each group has their own actions which are assessed and approved by the Council, as appropriate, to contribute to our overall inclusion and diversity goals.
