Brock - Ausgrid Bright Spark Program

Take your career to new heights!

Imagine being the hero who keeps the lights on! As a Lineworker you will work on building and maintaining overhead electrical lines that carry electricity across cities and regional areas. You will work at heights in elevated work platforms to install and service poles, pole mounted equipment, conductors, cable, circuit breakers, switches and other equipment that deliver electricity.

This career is booming, thanks to the rise of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and the constant need for skilled pros during natural disasters. It’s a job that’s not just in demand - it’s essential and built to last.

What makes it awesome?

  • Work at heights: If you love seeing the world from above, this is your office in the sky. Climb poles, towers, and lift buckets to keep the grid running.
  • Enjoy the outdoors: Work in cities, remote towns, and everywhere in between. Every day brings a new view and a fresh challenge.
  • Emergency heroes: When storms hit and the lights go out, you’re the one people count on to bring the power back and keep communities safe.

Ready to spark your career? This is the place to start.

Testimonial from a Bright Spark Alumni

Michael Ryan, Lineworker

Apprentice Testimonial - MichaelThe apprenticeship taught me invaluable skills, including how to collaborate with a variety of personalities.

My most memorable moment was when I successfully completed my first major task independently. It was a challenging experience, but the satisfaction of seeing the outcome and knowing I was ready for more solidified my passion for the trade.

My advice to new apprentices: Don’t rush the process. Be patient, ask questions, and take the time to learn the basics – they will set the foundation for your future success.
