Enhancing your solar connections experience

Ausgrid is improving the way industry and customers connect embedded generation systems, including rooftop solar, while implementing the new NSW Government regulatory requirements, designed to maintain the stability of the electricity network.

As part of our broader connections reform, we are simplifying processes and improving digital services to deliver a faster, easier, and better value connections experience.

A key part of this is the delivery of Ausgrid Connect - our new digital connections portal supporting an enhanced solar connections experience - launching in June 2026.

What is Ausgrid Connect?

Ausgrid Connect is our new online connections portal delivering faster applications, better visibility, and smarter workflows across the connections process. Our new EG application form is supported by an automated assessment process, with most applications expected to be approved within minutes of submission.
The new portal makes it easier for solar retailers to submit, track and manage Embedded Generation (EG) connection applications, while improving visibility and reducing complexity in the connections journey

Key benefits for solar retailers

Faster approvals
Most EG applications are expected to be automatically approved within minutes.
One place to manage all jobs
Log in to view, track and manage all applications for your business through a single dashboard.
Greater visibility and control
Monitor application status, installer activity, and company compliance in one place.
Fewer errors and rework
Smart validation and auto-population reduce manual data entry and mistakes.
Built-in compliance
The applications will align with current NSW and national regulatory requirements.

A smarter embedded generation application process

Ausgrid Connect utilizes industry-leading, modern technology to deliver greater security, ease of use, and greater in-portal support, including:

  • Company and user accounts with a new, secure login process
  • Clear view of existing and new inverters and devices at each site
  • Auto-population of selected CEC-listed inverter, panel, and battery information
  • Guided selection of compliant inverter combinations
  • NMI and address lookup and validation
  • Alignment with AEMO Distributed Energy Resources Register and Clean Energy Council data standards
  • ConnectAssist, which will provide you with real‑time guidance and step‑by‑step support within the portal whilst you complete your application.

Streamlined hand-off to installers

Once approved, EG applications will automatically transfer to the NSW Government Consumer Energy Resources (CER) Installer Portal, which supports a single registration process for installers across all three NSW distribution networks.

Designed for today’s regulatory environment

Ausgrid Connect is aligned with:

  • NSW Government Emergency Backstop Mechanism
  • Flexible export requirements
  • AEMO DER Register and Clean Energy Council standards
