Ausgrid welcomes NSW Government energy saver loans as new ‘Good Energy is Electric’ website helps households take next step
The launch comes as the NSW Minns Labor Government today announced new loans and discounts to help households lower their power bills, saying the program will make it easier for families to invest in energy-saving upgrades and take control of their energy use.
Both initiatives arrive at a critical time, with customer research showing households are motivated to reduce their bills but often lack the clear, trusted information needed to act.
The ‘Good Energy is Electric’ website features practical tools and real-world guidance, including a six-part ‘Good Energy Guide’ podcast, how-to videos, myth-busting explainers and customer case studies to support people at every stage of their electrification journey - as well as easy, low-cost steps anyone can take today to reduce their energy use and bills.
Research underpinning the website found that as cost-of-living pressures are the top concern for customers, many are wanting to lower their energy bills, but lacking confidence in how electrification works or whether it will pay off.
It also found strong demand for simple, trusted information, with:
- 67% of customers wanting clear cost comparisons between electric and gas usage for hot water, cooktops, heating and cooling
- 65% seeking step-by-step guidance on how to upgrade home appliances and systems
- 73% valuing real-life stories from people who have already made the switch to an electric vehicle
Ausgrid Group Executive – External Affairs & Strategy Tim Jarratt said:
"We’re focused on making sure the benefits of electrification are accessible to more than just homeowners. Renters, apartment dwellers and people who don’t own their homes also want to lower their bills and improve how they live, and they shouldn’t be left behind.”
“Today’s announcement from the NSW Government is a positive and practical step to help more households access the technologies that can lower their bills and improve comfort at home.”
“But a big part of the challenge isn’t just cost – it’s confidence. People want to know what’s right for their situation, and we’re working to give all customers the clarity and practical guidance they need to take the next step.”
“Our research shows people are looking for clear, trustworthy advice on what works and what doesn’t – and that’s what we’re aiming to provide through our new Good Energy is Electric website.”
Mr Jarratt said the website was designed to cut through confusion and help customers make confident decisions.
“Electrification can feel complex, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ve created simple, practical resources to help people understand their options, compare costs, and take the next step when it’s right for them.”
