Managing bushfire risk
Our bushfire prevention measures include regular inspections of powerlines, tree trimming, vegetation management, helicopter and drone patrols.
We work in collaboration with the State Emergency Service (SES) and NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) to lessen the impact of bushfires on the electricity network and the community.
Keeping the community safe
To minimise the risk of bushfires, we inspect the electricity network for potential bushfire hazards that could increase fire risk, and we trim vegetation near powerlines to reduce the risk of power outages, electrical fires, and power surges.
Our crews will assess private poles and powerlines to check for vegetation growing too close to powerlines, as well as damaged poles that could lead to a fallen pole or an electrical fire.
- Aerial patrols: We use helicopters and drones to inspect the electricity network for potential hazards that could increase fire risk.
- Private poles and powerlines: Our crews will assess private poles and powerlines for potential bushfire hazards.
- Keeping customers informed: We notify property owners of their responsibility to maintain and keep private poles free from vegetation, and notify them when issues are found through our inspections.
Your responsibilities
