What to do if someone receives an electric shock on your work site

If the situation is life-threatening, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Do not touch the person until the power has been isolated and the area is confirmed safe by a qualified person (e.g. electrician or authorised worker).

A person in contact with live electricity can conduct electricity, meaning you could also be seriously injured if you touch them.

Isolate the power source immediately if it is safe to do so (e.g. switchboard, generator, temporary site power).

Once power is confirmed off:

Check for response and breathing

Provide first aid, including CPR if required

Seek medical attention—even if the shock appears minor
