Overview

Every five years, Ausgrid is required to submit a plan to the national regulator for electricity and gas networks, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), detailing our proposed services, costs, and prices for the next five years. The AER’s role is to review our proposal to ensure it reflects the services our customers value at the most efficient cost. It then determines how much revenue we can recover from our customers over the 5-year period. This process is known as a ‘regulatory reset’.

Our current regulatory reset covers the period from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2029. Planning has started for our next regulatory reset, which will cover the period from 1 July 2029 to 30 June 2034. The key milestones for the development of our 2029-34 proposal are set out in the below timeline.

Your feedback is important to us

To develop our regulatory proposal for the 2029-34 period, feedback from our customers and stakeholders is vital. It is important for us to understand what our customers and stakeholders value and their priorities for the future, so that we can use this feedback to help shape our proposal.

We have begun engaging with customers on our plans for 2029-34, ahead of submitting our regulatory proposal to the AER in January 2028. Further details on our 2029-34 Regulatory Reset, including ways for customers to engage in the process and provide their view, is linked below.

Our Customer Consultative Committee (CCC) also plays a key role in providing feedback on our proposal with a focus on customers. Part of their role is to track how Ausgrid is progressing with projects we committed to as part of our 2024-29 proposal, as well as supporting the development of our 2029-34 proposal.
