Learn how we manage construction and operational noise, including standard work hours and controls used to reduce impacts on nearby communities.
We know that noise and vibration at construction sites can be disruptive to the local community. We assess and manage construction noise in accordance with the EPA's Construction Noise Guideline.
Environmental controls to minimise our noise impact are specified in Ausgrid’s NS 174C Environmental Handbook for construction and maintenance.
New infrastructure is designed to meet the requirements of the EPA's Noise Policy for Industry.
If you have an enquiry about noise from an Ausgrid depot, substation or work site, please check for a sign with specific contact details.
Operating Hours
We restrict construction or maintenance work that impacts the community to these standard operating hours, unless certain criteria can be met.
- Monday to Friday – 7am to 6pm
- Saturday – 8am to 1pm
- No work on Sundays or public holidays
