Telecommunications Cables in Ausgrid Premises
NS266: Telecommunications Cables in Ausgrid Premises
This document defines the minimum technical and functional telecommunications cable requirements for design and installation in Ausgrid premises.
Ausgrid assets consist of various types of premises and buildings, each requiring the installation of external and internal telecommunications cables primarily for protection and communication purposes.
Assets include the following premise and building types:
- Electrical substations, including transmission substations;
- Regional depots and offices;
- Training centres;
- Laboratories;
- Logistical storage facilities and warehouses;
- Communications modular buildings [CMB];
- Fibre marshalling kiosks [FMK];
- Mobile substations; and
- Miscellaneous – Heritage buildings.
Note: Standards for communications modular buildings and fibre marshalling kiosks will be detailed in individual documents.
Scope
This document applies to telecommunications “passive” cabling in Ausgrid premises. This standard does not include infrastructure requirements outside Ausgrid premises. This standard does not include electrical cable or conduit installation inside Ausgrid premises, security, fire, carrier cabling etc. and also does not include Telco carrier installs in substations (refer to NS162 Specification for the Installation of Communications Cables in Duct lines and Substations).
Notes
- For ease of interpretation this specification, standard details the cable entry from an external environment, [typically the substation site boundary or existing Ausgrid external fibre network] through the substation switchyard, into the premises and continuous to the cable termination location.
- Refer to NS208 series on Telecommunication Cabinets for active cabling and componentry.
- This is an evolving document subject to change.
