Subdivisions
If you’re subdividing land for homes, businesses or industry, you’ll need to plan how electricity will be supplied to the new lots.

Start by understanding your electricity needs
Every subdivision is different. Connection requirements can vary depending on:
- How many lots you’re creating
- How the land will be used
- The type of land title involved

Applying for electricity connections
Once you’re ready to proceed:
- Apply for a new connection using the Subdivision application
- Follow the standard Connection process
This helps ensure electricity can be supplied safely and reliably to each new lot.
Registering your subdivision plan
Before your subdivision can be finalised, your plan must be registered with NSW Land Registry Services.
In most cases, your local council will also ask for a Notification of Arrangements from Ausgrid. This confirms that suitable arrangements are in place to supply electricity to the subdivision.
What is a Notification of Arrangements?
A Notification of Arrangements confirms that:
- Electricity supply has been planned for the subdivision
- Any required connection works are underway or completed
You’ll need this document before council can release your subdivision plan.
How to request a Notification of Arrangements
To request a Notification of Arrangements:
- Apply online via Apply for a connection
- Select Notification of Arrangements under Subdivisions
- Pay the required fee
When we can issue the notice depends on the project:
- Simple connections – the notice may be issued after fees are paid
- More complex projects – the notice is issued once connection works and arrangements are complete
