Dynamic Connection Agreement

What is a Dynamic Connection Agreement?

The Dynamic Connection Agreement is a new way for large customers to connect to our high voltage network, faster and at a lower cost.

Instead of locking in a traditional fixed capacity connection that may require costly network upgrades, a Dynamic Connection Agreement provides:

  1. A fixed capacity you can rely on
  2. A variable capacity that is in addition to the fixed capacity and adjusts in real time based on network conditions

This flexibility enables more efficient use of the existing network, and helps avoid expensive and time-consuming network augmentation.

The benefits

Faster connections

Reduces long construction times from network augmentation.

Lower upfront cost

Removes the need for costly network augmentation.

Smarter use of the network

Using the existing network more efficiently helps reduce long-term costs for all customers.

How does it work?

The Dynamic Connection Agreement allows customers to tap into unlocked network potential.

Who is it for?

A Dynamic Connection Agreement is ideal for large sites that can manage their energy use in real time. These agreements are best suited for customers connected with real-time energy monitoring capability, such as customers with:

Batteries

EV Chargers

Flexible loads

Solar

How to apply

Dynamic connection qualifications

To qualify, the site must be able to:

  • Receive real-time signals from Ausgrid
  • Respond to those signals by adjusting your energy consumption or generation, either by reducing load or scaling back output when needed

This ensures the site stays within dynamic limits and helps keep the network running smoothly.
