We're working hard to ensure that gender equality is championed at all levels of the organisation, helping to shape the energy industry to represent all forms of gender identity.

Gender equality at work

Our aim is to remove systemic barriers, allowing our workforce to thrive in all areas of the organisation, regardless of gender.

Gender Balance Network - employee resource group

The Gender Balance Network is our gender diversity employee resource group that, in a male-dominated industry, aims to give all women, cis and gender diverse, access to a work environment and equipment that shows no limits to opportunities.

Gender targets

To support an improvement in the gender mix, we introduced gender targets in 2021 and are continuing our tiered incentive employee referral program for recruitment in line with diversity targets.

  • 25% representation of women in People Leader roles by 2029
  • 8% representation of women in frontline roles by 2029
  • 30% representation of women Apprentices

Along with these targets, we aim to have 40/40/20 representation within our early career cohorts, such as graduates and interns.

MentorConnect

  • A program for women in Ausgrid that is made up of a small circle of women, who learn from each other and are also mentored by one male and one female senior leader.

Women in Energy Sector Group

  • The WES Group is comprised of women and men from across the energy industry including Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs), Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs) and other relevant companies such as Sydney Trains, that operate within Australia.
