Staying safe when working near overhead powerlines

The Look up and Live platform can help you plan work near powerlines to minimise contact and reduce the risk of injury or death from electrocution and damage to equipment and our electricity network.

Information on Ausgrid’s overhead network data is available on an interactive geospatial map. The platform also includes overhead data from TransGrid, Endeavour, Essential, Energex, Ergon, Powerlink, Jemena and includes important safety features in one location, including:

  • Overhead powerline locations and imagery via an interactive geospatial map
  • Safety guidelines and advice, including powerline exclusion zones

Supporting safety awareness

We have developed videos to support the education and awareness of working safely near overhead powerlines for all public workers across a number of industries such as construction and agriculture.

These have been developed in consultation with SafeWork NSW, Look Up & Live, Essential Energy, Endeavour Energy and Energy Queensland.

We encourage the use and sharing of these assets by others to help promote the need to plan before, as well as to ‘Look up and Live’ when on the job. The videos are designed for use on social media, websites and for TV. To learn more simply email: electricitysafety@ausgrid.com.au.
