First Nations
Ausgrid’s First Nations approach connects our workplace with Australia’s oldest living cultures through cultural safety, employment pathways and meaningful community partnerships.
Connecting our workplace to Australia’s oldest living culture
Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) sets out key actions and deliverables to connect the organisation to First Nations communities through education and knowledge sharing, building economic empowerment and a culturally safe workplace.
First Nations Employee Resource Group
Our First Nations employee resource group supports the RAP in providing opportunities to build the capability and participation of First Nations peoples at all levels in our organisation while promoting culture and community engagement.
First Nations Cultural Safety and Awareness Training
- First Nations cultural safety is key to creating respectful and safe workplaces. In partnership with Indigenous facilitators, we aim to build First Nations cultural safety and capability for our people.
Social Procurement Working Group
- Ensuring we diversify our supply chain through partnerships with First Nations businesses and social enterprises.
Ausgrid Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
This Plan represents our deepening commitment to reconciliation, outlining practical actions that will drive meaningful relationships, respect, and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Recognising ancestral lands
The Ausgrid network area covers 22,275 square kilometres and encompasses 11 ancestral countries in the Sydney, Hunter and Central Coast regions. We strive to respect, celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across our network.
